STATIC DEFLECTION GUIDE

The table provides the necessary static deflection and isolator type based on isolation efficiency and operating speed values. Approximate isolation efficiency levels are suggested for various operating speeds.

Steps:

Identify your desired isolation efficiency.

Find the minimum static deflection value corresponding to your machine's disturbing frequency (operating speed).

Select the appropriate value based on your installation location. You will see two values: one for ground floor installations and one for upper floor installations.

Note: Static deflections for rubber and rubber pad mounting elements are set based on average material hardness to allow for selection based on dynamic natural frequency.

ISOLATION EFFICIENCY CHART

The chart below illustrates the theoretical relationship between isolation efficiency, disturbing frequency, and static deflection (dynamic natural frequency) for a simple system isolated on a solid foundation. It also groups isolation efficiency ranges for different applications.

Steps:

Use the device's lowest rotational frequency as the disturbing frequency.

Move vertically from your frequency value until you hit the diagonal line corresponding to the desired isolation percentage.

Move horizontally to the left from that intersection point to determine the dynamic natural frequency or the required static deflection.

Note: For systems with spring mountings, using the static deflection is sufficient to select the correct isolator. However, for rubber and rubber pad mounting elements, your selection should be based on the dynamic natural frequency.
